The G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storm warning was extended and is now valid through 02/2100 UTC (02/1600 ET). Elevated solar wind speeds around 700 km/s due to connection with a coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS), and occasional periods of favorable interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) orientation, continue to cause periods of escalated, overall planetary geomagnetic response. G1 levels were first met on 1 March at 1036 UTC (01/0536 ET) and have been reached frequently since. G1 levels were most recently met on 2 March at 1412 UTC (02/0912 ET). A period of G2 (Moderate) storming was also reached on 1 March at 2300 UTC (01/1800 ET) during a particularly favorable period of solar wind conditions. Elevated solar winds speeds from the CH HSS are expected to continue through 2 March; therefore the G1 Watch also remains in effect for 02 March.
