G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic Storm Watch Issued for 20 May

A G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storming watch is in effect for the 20 May UTC-day. The storming is likely, due to another coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS) rotating into a favorable position. This will result in increased solar wind speeds and a disturbed interplanetary magnetic field. Initial effects are expected later on 19 May, resulting in active conditions; with an escalation to a few, isolated periods of minor storming (G1) on 20 May. Geomagnetic responses are expected to return to active levels on 21 May. Continue to monitor our SWPC website for any changes to the forecast.
