M1 flare (R1 - Minor Radio Blackout) at 0514 UTC on 22 April, 2022
An M1.1 flare (R1-Minor Radio Blackout) occurred at 1:14 am EDT (0514 UTC) on 22 April, 2022. The flare may have caused weak, minor degradation of HF radio communication or occasional loss of contact on the sunlit side of Earth – which at the time of the flare was over large portions of Asia and Australia [as seen in our D-RAP model near the peak of the flare]. Low-frequency navigation signals may also have been temporarily degraded for brief intervals over the same sunlit areas. The moderately complex Region 2993 was the source of the flare and further flares of this level are still expected over over the next three days, with a chance for higher level activity.
