G1 Watch Remains in Effect for 5 and 6 January
A G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storm watch remains in effect for 5 January, 2017 and has been extended to include 6 January. The anticipated recurrent, polar connected, negative polarity CH HSS is impacting Earth's magnetosphere with solar wind speeds in excess of 600 km/s. This coupled with periods of favorable interplanetary magnetic field orientation is likely to cause escalated geomagnetic responses to minor (G1) storm levels.
