Coronal Mass Ejection on 28 December
An asymmetric, partial halo coronal mass ejection (CME) occurred on 28 December in association with an M1 flare (R1-Minor radio blackout) that peaked at 28/1245 UTC (0745 ET). Initial analysis indicated most of the plasma density was directed along a NW to SE vector. SWPC forecasters conducted an analytical fit and submitted it for a WSA-Enlil model run to determined the possibility of an Earth-directed component. SWPC forecasters will update this news story pending model run results and final forecast decisions.
