Two Possible Earth-directed CME events on 16 December
Two coronal mass ejection (CME) events took place on 16 December. The first was associated with a C6 x-ray flare at 0903 UTC (0403 ET). The second was from a coronal disruption from the southeast quadrant of the Sun. The second CME was first seen in available coronagraph imagery at 1424 UTC (0924 ET). Both CMEs have been analyzed as assymetric full-halo events and are expected to have Earth-directed components.
