CHROME Warning - If using CHROME to view this web page, it will not correctly show tracking gaps.  Please use a different browser until we find a fix for this issue.

This page shows the DSCOVR scheduled and actual tracking from stations around the globe, and ACE actual tracking.  The scheduled tracking by station is shown as solid, narrow horizontal bars.  Actual tracking is overlaid as translucent, thicker horizontal bars.  The current time is denoted by the black vertical line.  Periods where no tracking occurred are indicated by the red horizontal NO DATA bar in the bottom row.

Features:

There is a drop down menu on the left to select either DSCOVR (the default) or ACE. Note: no schedule information is available for ACE.

Time spans of 1, 3, or 7 days can be displayed using the drop down menu at the center underneath the graph.

The NO DATA bar can be made to extend to the height of the graph and by selecting 'wide' on the 'No data:' drop down menu.

Under the 'X Axis:' drop down menu, choosing 'Current time centered' will keep the current time in the center of the graph.  Choosing 'UTC days' will keep the beginning of the current UTC day in the center of the graph.

Placing the cursor over a scheduled tracking bar will indicate the expected data rate in kbps and whether ranging is planned.

Placing the cursor on either end of a planned window will also show the expected start/stop time of that tracking pass.

Placing the cursor near a gap on a tracking bar will show the start or stop time of the data gap.

Placing the cursor over a NO DATA block will show the start/stop times of the data gap.

Known bugs:

The NO DATA bar may show a transient tick mark at the current time.

The plot shows the status of Real Time Solar Wind (RTSW) data receipt from DSCOVR by individual station.  It also shows the expected tracking coverage by station.  In a change from the ACE version of this product, the bottom row shows gaps with the presence of a horizontal bar, whereas the ACE display showed a horizontal bar in the bottom row when data was available.

The tracking stations shown are:

  • NICT: National Institute of Information and Communications Technology in Tokyo, Japan
  • KSWC: Korean Space Weather Center in Jeju, Korea
  • DLR: German Aerospace Center in Neustrelitz, Germany
  • WCDAS: NOAA's Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station in Wallops Island, Virginia
  • FCDAS: NOAA's Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station in Gilmore Creek, Alaska
  • SWPC: NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder, Colorado
  • AFSCN-APL: United States Air Force Satellite Control Network stations in various locations around the globe (or the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory).
  • NEN-DSN: NASA's Near Earth Network or Deep Space Network stations in various locations around the globe.

V1.0 release 17 June 2016.

V0.9 released 29 July 2015.
