published: Saturday, May 13, 2023 12:36 UTC

R2 (Moderate)  HF Radio Blackouts occurred on 9 May, 2023 (UTC) due to an M6.5 flare from Region 3296. Analysis is underway to determine if a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) was associated with this flare and, if so, if there is any Earth-directed component of that CME. This Region has a history of producing M-Class flares during its transit across the solar disk, with the latest M6.5 flare becoming the sixth since 04 May.  Region 3296 has exhibited development in both number of spots and its magnetic complexity, giving it an increased chance of producing more flares.  Continue to monitor our website for additional information, updates, and forecasts.
